General dog Obedience That Supports Real-Life Living

Obedience won’t fix behaviour on its own, but it makes a big difference. It helps your dog understand how to respond in different situations and gives you a standard to hold them to. This isn’t about drilling commands for the sake of it.

It’s about making sure your dog knows what’s expected and can hold it together when it counts. Most dogs enjoy the work when it’s taught well, and it gives you both something solid to work from.

dog Obedience That Builds Engagement

Obedience starts with your dog learning to stay involved not just responding when it suits them. Whether it’s positions, stillness, or listening around distractions, this work teaches your dog to stay switched on. It’s not about performance, it’s about responses that actually hold up.

The Role of dog Obedience in Everyday Handling

Obedience supports everything else you do with your dog. It improves how they respond in different environments and gives you something reliable to work from. When expectations are clear and consistent, outcomes become more predictable—which is often what makes things feel less stressful. You’re not left guessing, and neither is your dog.

dog Obedience That Carries Over into Real Life

This training isn’t just about what your dog can do during a session. We focus on making obedience useful in real situations with distractions, pressure, and everyday demands. You’ll learn how to raise the standard and make sure it lasts beyond the moment.

General Dog Obedience Training That Works

Good obedience training is about building clear communication and giving your dog the skills they need to live well alongside you. When you take the time to build that understanding, things start to feel more consistent, more predictable, and far easier to manage.

I would highly recommended Angela at Turner Dog Training. I contacted Angela regarding our 4 year old border collie who was reactive towards other dogs. The situation had become increasingly worse over a period of time and had got to the point where I was avoiding taking him out places where we might meet other dogs. I felt very isolated and sad that Brodie wasn’t living the fulfilling life I had hoped for. From the first 1 to 1 session it was obvious how experienced Angela was. She identified immediately how difficult it was for Brodie to regulate his emotions and the impact that this was having on his daily life and us as a family. His training initially took place at home and then out in the real world. What followed was such a steep learning curve. With each 1 to 1 session Brodie made great progress and I felt more confident taking him out and putting his training into practice. When my partner sustained an injury it became difficult for me to put the time into Brodies training. Concerned that his training would become static or possibly regress I decided to book Brodie in for two weeks Board and Train. I was initially a bit apprehensive as Brodie had never been away from home before. I had no need to be concerned. We were given daily updates and videos, it was obvious to see the strong bond that Angela had built up with Brodie. His two weeks training were intense and the progress he made was amazing. We were given an in-depth handover after the two weeks and an ongoing training plan. Since starting Brodies training with Angela his world has opened up immensely. He enjoys lots of new experiences and fun days out. One of the highlights has been being able to take him on a ferry with us on holiday to the Outer Hebrides. These are things I didn’t think would have been possible 6 months ago. The support from Angela is ongoing. We attend her group classes once week where Brodie gets to socialise with the other dogs and I get the opportunity to meet her other clients and share our experiences. Angela I am so grateful for everything you have done us. Thank you 🐾

Angela has been an absolute life saver with our collie scout. As a puppy he was so nervous and easily spooked, the confidence he has grown in the past 3 years is unbelievable and none of this would’ve been possible without Angela’s help. He has come on so far thanks to Angela’s guidance and expertise and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with him, he absolutely loves Angela to bits. We can’t thank her enough.

We genuinely couldn’t recommend Angela at Turner Dog Training more highly. We began with a 1-to-1 session before joining her weekly group classes, and the difference compared to other trainers we’ve worked with has been incredible. Angela is so approachable, and truly takes the time to get to know both the dogs and their owners. What really sets her apart is that her training is never “one size fits all” — she carefully tailors her approach to each dog’s individual needs, which makes such a difference. One of the things we love most is the sense of community she’s created. We actually look forward to classes every week, and the group chats are a great space to share advice, challenges, and wins with other owners. Oakley has come on so much since starting. He has more freedom now, and we feel far more confident handling him. As a rescue, he was reactive, unsure, and struggled to regulate his behaviour. The group classes have been invaluable because they take place in real-life settings, helping us work through everyday situations rather than avoiding them. We’re so grateful for everything Angela has done — it’s made a huge difference to both us and Oakley, and we can’t wait to continue our training journey with her.

We had a fantastic experience at the puppy training class with our Labrador puppy, Tucker. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and completely non-judgemental—perfect for both owners and energetic pups! Angela and Fiona were both very knowledgeable and clearly love working with all kinds of dogs. I left each session feeling more confident as we work towards making Tucker our ideal family dog. The small class sizes were a huge bonus, as it meant the advice was tailored specifically to Tucker’s personality and needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. We learned so much and saw real progress. I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for supportive, effective, and thoughtful puppy training. 🐾

Myself and my miniature poodle puppy, Kaiser have recently completed the puppy training block. I have thoroughly enjoyed each session and found it very interesting and Angela has been great at breaking everything down so I can understand and is extremely knowledgeable and amazing at what she does, I have felt supported every step of the way and not to mention seeing my wee pups confidence starting to come on has been amazing to see. I'd highly recommend Angela for everything dog training related!🐾🐕

Angela has helped us with some developing less walking problems with our dog. We couldn’t recommend Angela highly enough. The process and techniques are simple and easy to work with. Angela is patent and completely non judgemental. Her only concern is for dog and owner to take away the stress.

Angela has been great at helping me with my puppy during group classes. The classes are small so it's not overwhelming and allows plenty of time to be spent on each puppy as needed.
